Success is Great if your Mental Blocks aren’t Keeping You from it

Many years ago, people worked hard with their hands to build something, or to plant a field to take care of their families.

Today, our job market has changed. Most of us have found that the weight of our job has to do with our mind and not our bronze. Computers have changed so much for us for good and bad. Maybe, it was healthy for us to use our bronze more. In the process, life has changed our perception of success and how to achieve it.

Many of us have chosen to measure our success by how many things we own or the brand of products we perceive mean success. Is that really success? Or is our perception of success a facade that leaves us with an empty feeling? If you have a strong sense of what success is to you, don’t read on. You already know. If you are questioning or searching, I have a short story for you.

Someone told me a story and I would like to give the credit to someone, but I can’t remember where I heard this story.

A man wanted success and decided to learn how others perceived success. So he interviewed others and received a wide range of opinions. Nothing seemed to be consistent. Everyone had a different view of what success meant to them.

Finally, he shyly approached the man who seemed to have it all. The man had houses, cars, travel, and a family. He wanted to know what he thought about success. He was shocked to hear the man who seemed to have it all say that he did not see himself as being successful.

He answered, “I have never experienced success. I’m still trying to achieve it.”

“What would it take to feel successful?”

“Right now, I make about $400,000 a year. If I could make $500,000, then I would feel successful.”

“Do you feel like you are happy with your life?” I asked.

“No. I can’t be happy until I reach my goal.”

Soon after, he met a man who seemed very happy. He couldn’t stop smiling. When he asked him how he viewed success. The man answered, “If I wake up and I’m above ground, then I’m successful.”

Our minds need to answer that question and many more. So how does our mind find it’s answers? I would like to give you an example. My sister gave me permission to tell you this story.

She happened to be going through a very stressful situation. We were talking, when out of the blue, she asked me. “Do you eat when you are in a stressful situation?”

“No. I will do the opposite.”

“Then why do I want to eat when I’m so stressed? I can’t seem to stop it?”

I answered, “If you want to change it, you can do it.”

She immediately agreed. So I started to talk to her subconscious mind. Suddenly, she saw herself as a one-month-old baby at a time of great stress for her. She was tired of waiting to be feed. When our mother did feed her, she told herself that ‘she liked it.’ The mind is very powerful. She did not realize that she had just programmed her mind to crave food when she was stressed.

We replaced or reprogrammed the mind to handle stress in a different way.

Now, you know that we start to program our minds while we are in diapers. It happens, when we think that ‘we like this.’ When we do it with emotion, our minds will not budge.

Every time, we have had a new experience in our lives and our emotions were involved with it, we made decisions that control our future. Now, we are adults. Sometime, we find unexplained caving, desires and situation that we can’t explain. It is because our unconscious mind is not paying attention to our thoughts today. Instead, our mind is running off of our first decision to handle a situation. Have you found it hard to break a habit?

When you know how the mind works, you can change and permanently remove the habit very quickly. After I learned how to reprogram my mind, I discovered talents that I never knew I had. It was great to stop being afraid of heights. Now, I can enjoy a beautiful view.

I wrote my book, “How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams” so I could share with others what I learned. In the past, I was terrified of the unknown. Now, I grin and walk into the unknown in peace. My fear is gone because I have skills to handle any situation.

What do you want to change? Leave me a comment and tell me, then I will tell you if it’s possible. You don’t even have to use your real name. No one will know who you are. If you want more information on how to buy my book. “How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams.”  Go to www.LaReneEllis.com . for an autographed copy. Amazon carry it too..

Success! How to we measure it?

It is crucial for you to feel successful everyday, if you want to be healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. You need it to be able to perceive your life correctly. The feeling of success will help you sustain you even when you are having a bad hair day. If you are like me, you’re probably wondering why? Why is it so important to feel the success down deep when I wasn’t sure what it was in the beginning. How do you measure success?

Your mind is alway working. At least if you are a woman, you’re mind is always thinking about something. If it is true that our minds attract to our lives, what we focus on. This is is important. Some people tell me that they don’t believe our minds can bring into our lives what we think about. I want to tell you, it is very true.

We bring into our lives really how we feel. Your feeling are nothing more than what you believe. We attract people that match our programming. If you want to be negative, nothing is more irritating than being around a positive person and visa versa.

How do you instill the feeling of success deep inside of you? First, it has nothing to do with your job or what you own. This Worldly Successisn’t the kind of success that I’m talking about. Things are only a illusion of success and you will never be satisfied. You need to create the feelings and thoughts first. So you can attract success and bring it into your life. So how do you program your mind to attract success?

First, you need to ask yourself. What is my definition of success? I’ve heard some people say, when I make a certain amount of money or when I buy a particular item. When my kids are all grown up and successful. We have heard numerous definitions of people’s concept of what success should feel like.

Most people’s meaning of success is like the horizon. I wrote about in my last article. Can you ever really touch the horizon? So they go through life never feeling succesful yet, they could be a multi millionaire. If you aren’t feeling successful everyday, then it means you do not understand how to program your mind to accept success.

If this is you, I suggest you change it now. I read one man’s definition of success and it was perfect. You need to have your definition of success so you can easily feel it everyday. This was his, “I feel success today because I’m above ground.” So every morning, he wakes up and he feels successful.

He inspired me to change mine to something that meant a lot to me. It is: I feel success when I learn something new. It is anything that I didn’t know a few moments ago. I can’t tell you how it changed my life. Try it! You might like it. It feel great to have that feeling of success always with you.

Success! Am I there Yet?

dsc_0016.jpgHave you ever set out to accomplish something only to find yourself wondering if you are even going in the right direction? Are you like your kids. Are you saying, I’m I there yet? Some people say: “Success is a state of mind.” What is a state of mind really?

I recently read a blog regarding journals. You can read it at: www.attractingyourgoal.com. You might want to check it out. It’s a good article. I mentioned that I have six journals in the comment section. Some people have asked why so many? The reason why, I thought might make a good article.

Goals are not a destination. Is anything really in this life a destination? You’re probably wondering what is this woman talking about. Let me give you an example. Can you touch a rainbow? If you saw one, can you go over and touch it? If you are sailing or driving towards the horizon, can you ever reach it? Can you touch the horizon?

We know that you can’t touch a rainbow or the horizon. With each step, the horizon moved away from from us. Our goal and successful can work the same way. If you want to see your successes, then you must look stop and look backwards. You need to look back and see what you have accomplished. What have I really accomplished? Journals help you do that very thing. They build self-love and worth within us.

I keep six journals that cover the different aspects of my life. So I go back and see my growth. We are always evolving even if we chose to hibernate and hide from the world. If nothing else, we are getting older and we can’t stop it.

The greatest secret of a journal, it builds self-love and worth. They teach us to be a better communicator. If you keep one, you’ll learn to appreciate you. You can go back and see your growth. How you got through a dark or a joyous time. What you learned? You can see how it changed you. Journals give you an opportunity to express yourself and guess what? Someone is truly listening.

In the process, you might find yourself and learn how wonderful and unique you truly are. Have fun with your journal!

Have you ever wondered how your life could change if you ever wrote an book?

Filed under: Getting Published,Personal Development,success — Tags: , , , , , , , , , — LaRene @ 5:08 am

People are starting to know me as a novelist. I’m surprised to learn how many people want or are trying to become an author of books. It surprises me because it wasn’t my goal to be an author. Before I wrote my first novel, I never ever thought about writing. Instead, I went to great lengths to avoid it.

From what I hear from other authors, I think my story is unique. Most people, I’ve spoken too thought about writing their story a lot. They planned out what they were going to write, the genre, and the outline of how the story unfolded. For me, my story is different. I accidentally discovered a story that was inside of me. Then I couldn’t’ stop it from coming out.

I’ve found people fascinated with this story on how I became an author, So I decided to write about it on my blog, rebuild shattered dreams. Maybe it might inspire someone to discover a hidden talent that they might have been buried deep inside, like me. Sometime, we have no idea what we can do until we have no choice but to walk through our fears and do it. This is what happened to me. I’m so grateful for the experience. It showed a side of me that I didn’t know existed.

Before I tell you my story, I need to point out one more thing. This is important to know. I found writing anything to be emotionally painful. In my book, “How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams,” I go into detail about why a simple note terrified me. Today, I’m going to tell something that I didn’t put in the book. How I was forced to face my fear of writing.

For five years of my life, I had been a real estate agent and enjoyed it. Finally at the end of my fourth year, I decided to get my real estate brokers license. After, I received it. I made the choice to go out on my own. For me, it was the smartest thing, I ever did. What happened next made it possible for me to deal with the changes that were about to take place in my life.

It was November 2000 and for the first time in my career, I had sold my entire inventory. It was strange to have no buyers either. In my area, November and December are traditionally our slowest months in real estate. Ever though, I have written and presented offers on Christmas Eve. This year, it was going to be different. I was tired and grateful to take a break.

Five days into my vacation, I had the most bizarre event take place in my life that has permanently changed my life. I woke up discovering that I couldn’t speak. My voice was gone. When I tried to force a whisper, it caused my lungs to go into long coughing spells. If I laughed, the coughing spells would appear. It sounded and felt like I was coughing up my lungs.

The problem didn’t make it easy for me to go out into public. I wasn’t sick. The doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with me. They just called it a virus assuring me that I would have to ride it out. Little did I know that it would take me ninety days for my voice to return and my lungs be able to take a deep breath again.

The winter was long and cold. We had little wind and storms in our area. When you live in the tops of mountains, you can easily get an inversion where the cold air is trapped to the floor of the valley. This happens when you have little wind or storms. Even if no one lives in the valley, it can happen. Our inversion spread from Provo, Utah to Pocatello, Idaho and it was thick.

I struggled to go outside and breath the air that winter. Never in my life had my lungs been a problem for me, so why was the winter of 2000 to 2001 different. My health problems trapped me inside a room in my home. I couldn’t be away from the humidifier or air purifiers without my lungs coughing to hard it could cause my bladder to have problems. They weren’t portable. So every morning, I picked a room and stayed there all day breathing fresh, moist air.

In November 2000, I did not have an email address and I don’t think I knew someone who did. Maybe, I did know someone. I just didn’t use them because I was terrified to write. I do know they weren’t as popular then as they are today. Either way, I had to write down my thoughts on a note pad if I wanted something. Remember, I told you earlier that I found writing emotionally painful and it terrified me.

This virus seemed to perfectly design to force me to face my fears. In the process, I discovered something very special regarding me. Those ninety days, I spent trapped in a room with a humidifier and air purifier has forever changed my life. It changed my career and how I view the world in away, I cannot ever go back…

This post is getting a little long. In my next post, I’ll tell you what happened, during those ninety days. My hope is it inspires you find something special about yourself. I’ll see you next time. Below are a couple of the books, I wrote because of this experience.

Part Two: My Journey to Becoming an Author

The last time, we talked. I was trapped in a room within my house. My constant campaigns were a humidifier and air purifier. Quickly, my bedroom became boring even though I had a television. I watched movie and read books. In the past, they had been a wonderful way to spend my time. Now, I found myself becoming quickly bored of the constant diet of them. My mind craved for something different. What? What could I do when I couldn’t speak a word or leave my new friends.

In real estate, I was constantly on the go physically and I had to use my mind daily. You are always thinking about how you are going to sell someone’s house or help a buyer find their dream house. With nothing to think about, I was lost. This was a new feeling and it left me frustrated and panicky. What if I never get my voice back?

Years ago, I met a woman who had lost her voice and all she could do was whisper. It was something permanent with her. The thought seemed to torment me. Would I become like her? I needed to think about something else. But what?

It was nice to see my children. I’m a mother of six. They were all adults at this time so I was really left me to myself. My oldest son didn’t live too far from me and he would stop by often on his way home from work to see how I was doing. It surprised him to find me one day in my office with my air purifier and humidifier. It took work to move everything back and worth.

He wondered, what could I possibly being doing in there? I couldn’t use the phone and I had no email address. Quickly, he started to pressure me into divulging my activities. Successfully, I sidestepped them. I didn’t want to tell him why I was there. It embarrassed me to tell him that I was writing a story. I started to dread him stopping by. I was having fun and I didn’t want my newly created world to be shattered by him telling me that I couldn’t do it.

I would like to take you back to why I decided to move my friends into my office. After a couple of day in my bedroom, I decided to move into my office, looking for something to keep me from going stir crazy. It was worth the work of moving everything, if I could find something to entertain my mind that would allow me to avoid my thoughts. The woman I talked about earlier had permanently lost her voice and could never speak above a soft whisper. I remember her story was surrounded by a mysterious illness. My situation was so unique it reminded me of her. It concerned that I would end up like her?

I wanted to do something that would help me not think about her. So I moved into my office finding nothing that I could do without my voice. Shortly after being in my office, an idea came to me. What if I could write a story? Immediately, I went into a panicked state. The thought had triggered my past emotional pain. (If you want to know why I had a fear to write, you can read about it my book, How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams.)

How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams

The panicked feeling dissipated when I promised to never allow anyone to read it. Secluded in my office, I felt protected and the story seemed to ward off my negative thoughts. Little did I know that I was about to embark on the most fantastic journey. It was beyond anything I had ever imagined.

I had no clue that I was a creative person and my mind was starved to be one. Since, I had never allowed myself to ever think or do anything with writing. I used to make fun at being a writer. My favorite phrase was, “Why write it when a picture could replace a thousands words.” If it weren’t for this experience, I would’ve never discovered a hidden talent, love and passion for something that I had thought to be unattainable.

One thing, I did years ago before this experience. I took some classes on how the mind worked. We learned that our thoughts are always vibrating and moving. This is why sometime, we can be talking with someone and we both get the same idea or thought at the same time. We both happened to latch onto the same vibration as the thought. So our minds had the same thought.

I wanted to be a receiver of a new thought. Today, I needed it to be a story. So I asked my mind to connect with a wavelength of one and bring it to me. Being a mediating state, I kept my mind clear, waiting for something to happen. How long I sat there, I do not know. I just sat there until it happened.

“Time Out, I hate time Out.” The words started to flow into my mind and I immediately started to type them into the computer. The story changed my life and I dearly love it. This post is getting long. So I’ll continue the story in part 3. If you want to keep up or start from the beginning of my journey to becoming an author. You can subscribe to my email update; you’ll receive the previous post and the future ones.

Are We Sucked into Unpleasant Situations or Do We Create them?

FearSo many times, I think we have a tenancy to blame ourselves for getting into an unpleasant situation. When it happens, we put up our guards or walls determined to not let it happen again. After we set ourselves behind our protective walls, we vigilantly watch for it to happen again. This time, we won’t be surprised because we are expecting it. Do our walls protect us or are we setting it up to happen repeatedly?

How many times have we built these walls? Not knowing, it is a perfect recipe for experiencing the situation over and over again. We attract to us the kind of people who can hurt us all because our unconscious mind is focused on what we do not want. So we relive the same negative emotions on a daily bases behind our walls. As a Man Thinkth so is He is one of truest words that have ever been stated.

Our lives are a mirror of our thoughts. The feeling of fear and shock that we were hurt tell us. We are thinking about it daily on a subconscious level. Do you know how to let go of a painful past experience? There are several things you can do. One of my favorite is to go to the origin of the first time, I experienced the painful moment

Mentally, I picture my younger self. I tell myself that I’m from the future and I want my younger self to know that they will be okay. It helps to put your arms around the younger self, telling them that you love them. Tell yourself, it’s okay that they brought pain into your life and you forgive them. You came back to tell them that they will be okay and it necessary to hide behind walls. This will melt the shock of the painful moment.

Our unconscious minds are very eager to please us and it thinks by building a wall around you. It is helping. What it does is hurt us more. We become frozen in this moment of pain and fear. Everyday are lives are being filtered through that moment. Is this really what you want?

It’s okay to be Afraid

You have probably have heard the saying, “There are two thing that you can always count on. It is death and taxes. I want to add a third element that haunts our steps. It is fear and everyone has felt it at least once in our lives. Fear can stop us from having happiness and becoming who we want to be in this life.

There are many books on the subject. If you have read a book on the subject, you should be able to handle it perfectly. Can you? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to read a book and presto, you have changed your life. The truth we have to choose to implement the principles into our lives.

Choice is a governing principle of the universe and we are bound to it. You had to choose to take you first breath and you have to choose to implement the techniques that you read in a book. I have read over two hundred books on self-help. If you want the success from what you read, you have to choice to implement them into your life.

Fear is an emotion and it is a action word. What I mean about fear being an action word. You have to take an action with fear. When you feel it, you will hide, fight or flight. Sometimes, we experience shock at the same time we feel fear. If this has happened to you, then you have added another problem.

As a little girl, my oldest brother thought it was funny to take me and through me up into the air. He would say, he wanted to see if I could hit the ceiling. The ceilings were ten feet in height. It would have impossible for me to actually hit it.

A two year old doesn’t understand that concept. Every time, he threw me up. I would scream and cry. With each toss, I held my breath. I was experiencing shock and fear at the same time, so they became attacked to it each other.

In the future, my mind brought up the shock every time I would even stand on a chair. I relieved the fear of being tossed up into the air. It would cause me to be consumed with fear. I relived everything right down to me holding my breath. If I stayed on the chair for too long, I would pass out from not breathing.

When we feel fear, we all hope that it will go away with time. I would have gone to my grave being afraid of any height without me doing something about it. I learned how to go back and release my mind from that frozen moment of being afraid.

I learned how to reprogram my mind to release any memory of being afraid. It has improved my life greatly. Sooner or later, we have to deal with fear or we spend the rest of our life avoiding or medicating our fears. Fear keeps us from growing and it will steal our dreams. You might want to deny what I said but down deep. You know it is true.

How did I get rid of my fear? The first rule of dealing with fear, you have to acknowledge you are afraid and it is okay. Sometime, we are embarrassed to admit that we are afraid to do something. It might make us appear weak.

Somewhere along the way, we promised ourselves that we would always be strong. Weakness was not acceptable. Once you have acknowledge it. You need to look at it. Why does this stop me cold?

You need to look at your fear from all angles so you can understand it. For me, when I asked me mind to back to the first time I felt paralyzing fear. It took me to my brother. I found embracing the moment with love and forgiveness removed the mind from the shock of feeling it. Love is a very healing emotion and you need to give it to yourself daily.

I sent love to myself until I felt the fear drifting out the window that my brother was standing next too. When the fear disappeared out the window, it left me. I sent it away through the window by choosing to let it go.

I knew it had left because I became consumed with a peaceful feeling. It is okay to feel fear. It becomes a problem when you do not allow it to leave you. Sometimes, we make the mistake of holding on it, thinking it is our duty. You can feel the fear and then you need to let it float through you. I hope this helps you. It works for me.

If you want more information, you read it in the book “Hot to Rebuild Shattered Dreams.” I also have a young adult series called “Stones Quest.” It’s a Sci-Fi/Fantasy series. The people are just like you but their technology is completely different. Along with their education, lifestyle and adventure, it is a fun, fast paced adventures read.

Want to make a New Year Resolution and have it work?

Do you like to make New Year resolutions? At the beginning of every year, we all make or we talk about making ‘New Year resolutions.’ How many of us achieve our goals? Over the years, I’ve only met a handful of people who are pleased with their results at the end of the year. Most of us have forgotten what goals we set. We have lost interest early in the year or we decided they were too hard and we quit.
Why do some goals appear to be so hard to achieve? It could because the goal will require change and some of us don’t like change. Some of the time, change is a unknown factor and we aren’t sure if can handle it. If you find yourself afraid of the unknown, it is usually because we are afraid on how to handle it. What happens if something is something that I’ve never experienced before? Can I handle it? Will it be something that will hurt me?
If this is you, I suggest you might want to change your perspective regarding change. This is my favorite quote and it’s by Sir Winston Churchill. He said, “To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often.”
Change can be wonderful, I choose to change a lot and it has brought me some wonderful rewards. The quote sat on my desk for quite awhile. Every time, I wanted to accomplish a goal. I usually saw that I would have to change something and do it different to achieve my goal. The quote reminded it was okay and everything would fine.
In my new book, ‘How to Rebuild Shattered Dreams’, I talk about how wonderful change can be in your life and how it can bless you. There is an art to change. If it is approached right, you can have change be wonderful. You need to do it with the right attitude or it will not be a good experience.
Remember, you can have everything taken away in this life. If you approach it right with the right attitude. You can rebuild a life that is stronger and far more vibrant then what was taken away. Please feel free to comment. Next time, I’m going to talk about any of these subjects below:
• Constants Fears
• Stress
• Unhappiness
• Abandonment – Finding Yourself Alone in Life
• Self Imposing Limits
• Change Core Beliefs
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Anxiety
• Anger
• Grief
